IRAN WAR: LOCAL DRIVERS URGED NOT TO PANIC BUY VEHICLE FUEL …

by Lucy Ashton
Motorists are being advised to maintain their normal refuelling routines and avoid panic buying, despite rising global oil prices following the start of conflict in the Middle East.
While shortages have already been reported in Dumbarton, Loch Lomondside and Helensburgh this morning, industry experts state there is no national fuel shortage.
Experts from the AA and RAC note that wholesale cost increases typically take 10 to 12 days to fully filter through to the forecourts.
However there have been scattered reports of surges in fuel prices, if you travel around it’s worthwhile checking out the prices.
Here are some variations we found as of Thursday afternoon:
◻️Helensburgh Morrisons: 132.7 petrol. 142.7 diesel.
◻️Dumbarton Esso Milton: 136.9 petrol. 147.9 diesel.
◻️Alexandria Lomond: 136.9 petrol. 147.9 diesel.
◻️Greenock BP: 139.9 petrol. 149.9 diesel.
◻️Bearsden Racetrack: 143.9 petrol. 167.9 diesel.
◻️Paisley Esso Rockfield: 134.9 petrol. 146.9 diesel.
◻️Hamilton Sainsbury’s: 127.9 petrol. 140.9 diesel.
◻️Bothwell Asda M74: 159.9 petrol. 166.9 diesel.
◻️Glasgow Elmbank St: 145.9 petrol. 154.9 diesel.
◻️Glasgow Asda Govan: 128.4 petrol. 137.5 diesel.
Helensburgh Tesco fuel station is closed until Saturday for maintenance works.
Here are some comments from drivers:

Simon Ja

Garelochead was 129 ish last time I filled up with petrol
Nick Cowie
Thing is the nitwits see an unnecessary queue and decide to join in.

Brian Houston

Lomond now 138.9 for petrol, a large jump from the 132.9 recently there, local Tesco jumped 2p.

Funny how it takes 10-12 days to filter through but prices are already running high. I guess why not increase price already and make a good wedge of money
Irene Cameron
Alexandria Lomond Gate is 145.9 and 156.9 diesel just commented on it when passing !

Classic greed. They are adding extra to the fuel they already bought and have in storage. We shouldn’t see rises this fast.

  1. From the above the cheapest diesel is £1.375 ( Govan ) with dearest being £1.679 ( Bearsden)

    That’s a whopping £0.304 a litre or + 22.5 % difference.

If that reflects the rate of rise likely across the board over the next 10 to 15 days we are in for a truly rocky road.

Oil prices feed everything from farm machine to construction to the transportation of every conceivable goods from food to medecine to consider goods and to buses and cars.

Not difficult to see how folks might find their incomes stretched big time whilst pensioners on fixed incomes and with some savings will see them vanished.

Tis the benefits of war war over jaw jaw that so many support. And now we have the UK military engaged. Hoedown time as they say in the USA and then our local council say that are bust?

At least the munitions manufacturer share prices are soaring. But that I’d suggest ain’t no silver lining.

    No doubt we shall see.
