Big thank you to Danny Borris & Jan Borris for giving up their time to come down and help. We started the huge job of clearing the build-up under the Wee Stuckie Bridge — and it was grim going at times.
By the end of it, we’d pulled out 20 bags of rubbish, a shopping trolley, a car tyre, and plenty of other random bits that had no business being there.
A lot of the waste is concentrated under the bridge, but the embankments on both sides between the two Stuckie bridges are nearly as bad.
Massive credit to Jan for tackling the steep embankment on this side — not the easiest or safest ground, but a great effort. The next step is getting everything uplifted. The plan is to move the bags and larger items out to the bin area at the corner by the lade, and hopefully work with West Dunbartonshire Council get it all collected.
This is a big job, but it’s already showing what can be done when people come together and just get stuck in. Teamwork, collaboration, and community pride — that’s how we turn this around.
