St Margaret of Scotland Hospice
It was our great pleasure to welcome Clydebank’s own John McGinn to the Hospice today, with his beautiful mum Mary. John took time out of his already busy schedule to come and visit with Keir before heading off to prepare for training.
Fan Robert MacNeilage said: “John came over to sign my son’s Scotland top while warming up for Villa at the Etihad. Down-to-earth, genuine guy. Scotland legend.”Steven Day declared, “Once a Bankie – Always a Bankie.”
Andrew Shaw added: “On the park and off it, Super John McGinn.”
Steven Duff said: “Forget that this guy is a top footballer for a minute. The highest accolade I can give SJM is that from what I can see of him and the work he does. I’d like my son to grow up to be like SJM.
“My wife’s met him a couple of times through active schools here in Edinburgh and also thought he was a genuinely lovely guy, only happy to meet folk at social events outwith his football. A true role model for young kids. A Hibs, Villa and Scotland LEGEND!
Tony Ootnaboot said: “He is a different class. All the Villa fans rave about all the work their captain does.”
Graeme McKee added, “Literally just captained a team to European glory and must be fixated on the World Cup, but he thinks of and makes time for this kindness. Top man.”
Paul Ritchie summed up the Scotland hero: “Grounded, genuine, proper person… so many could learn so much from John. Credit to your family, never mind football. Good luck at the World Cup, and guaranteed no player will give as much as you will during the 3 group matches.”

The final whistle is approaching. We need that last touch to get us to our goal of £2 million!
John McGinn is on our team… You can be too.
