Please stand for your community council

Community councillors represent their community in lots of different ways. They are consulted by the Council and they can also get involved in local campaigns to improve their area and organise local community activities.
As the ‘grass roots’ tier of statutory representation in Scotland, our community councils play a vital role in local life.
Community council elections will take place across Argyll and Bute on 20 August 2026, and we would love to encourage people to stand for office and help shape how council and other public services are delivered in your area.
You can find out more about the work of community councils and the support available to them on our website.
If you would like to make a difference within your local community, please download a nomination pack to stand for your community council. Nominations must be returned by 4.00 pm on Thursday, 25 June 2026. We look forward to hearing from you.
