PUDSEY BEAR SAILED INTO RHU FOR CHILDREN IN NEED

The iconic mascot of BBC Children in Need, has embarked on his first-ever round-Britain voyage this summer, and Rhu was amongst the stops on an extraordinary journey, travelling more than 2200 nautical miles, and visiting 35 coastal locations along the way.
Jonathan Brewin, skipper of sailing boat Big Bear, with Pudsey on board, said: “This year I turn 70. Rather than marking the occasion quietly, my wife Jackie and I decided to do something more purposeful – raising £70,000 for a charity that achieves so much for young people in need.”
Emma Douglas, supporter experience manager at BBC Children in Need, conveyed: “We’re incredibly inspired by the Big Bear Voyage and the remarkable commitment behind it.”
For many families, meeting Pudsey is a joyful and lasting memory. To celebrate, the Royal Northern & Clyde Yacht Club in Rhu threw a ‘Pudsey Pirate Party’ at their own grounds last night, and everyone had a ball.
