Had a great local walk the other day, courtesy of Zoe, from our Friends of Havoc Meadows. A great talk on the plants, flowers, & pollinators, and wildlife in the area now.
Since all the volunteers have been looking after our shore areas, which used to be matted in rubbish, with the tide … it is just flourishing! Havoc, the Castle shore, The Saltings…
Leaving all the wild native plants and flowers alone, to do what nature does best, has created a really lovely natural area for a wander. Have you been lately?
Tip: Go along the top path on the grass on a sunny day at Havoc, to see all the butterflies now! On the brambles, wild roses, flowering currant, wildflowers, thistles, nettles, etc
The flowering Ivy in my garden is amazing for pollinators too btw, absolutely crammed with bees and butterflies every year! And birds nest in it too and eat the seeds all winter …
Our native plants are amazing, aren’t they?
All our gardens, woodlands, riverbanks, shores, moors, Meadows, act as wildlife corridors, so important for critters to travel from place to place safely and hidden from predators. We can all do our own little bit
We live in such a stunning area, don’t we? We’re so lucky! Our shores will hopefully soon have protected status for future generations to enjoy too! So pretty on a nice day, great for your mental health! And up our hills too and the Loch.
