Scottish Water bosses have been awarded £258,000 in bonuses at a time of consumer price rises and sewage scandals.
No wonder he is laughing at consumers in this public relations picture, which is currently being circulated by his company’s spin doctors.
He is certainly not laughing with them, as their bills, which are added to their council tax (up by nearly ten per cent in West Dunbartonshire), increase exponentially year on year.
The Chief Executive’s full remuneration package came to £432,000 this year.
Raging trade union organiser Claire Greer of GMB Scotland said: “Year after year, bosses are showered with cash while workers are forced to scrap for a fair pay rise.
“No doubt ministers will again defend these indefensible payments, but the sums involved remain obscene.”
Other Scottish Water executives were also rewarded with performance bonuses.
