New figures show only 62.9% of people attending A&E were seen within the 4-hour target in the week ending 9th August, while 3,468 people waited over 8 hours and 1,331 waited over 12 hours.
Scottish Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Adam Harley MSP said: “These kinds of waiting times are the sort of thing we used to only see during winter crises; under the SNP they have become routine.
“Seeing waits like this during the summer is a grim warning for the winter ahead. The Scottish Government must act urgently to support A&E before winter arrives.
“Right now, far too many beds are occupied by people who are medically ready to leave but can’t because the care package to get them home isn’t available.
“That’s why we need to fix social care – it’s how we fix the NHS. My party would encourage more people into caring professions and boost pay and conditions for care workers so that everyone is seen in good time.”
