What are the chances of Police Scotland giving journalists their jobs back? That’s doing things such as interviewing people who have been involved in something newsworthy, such as a train crash, a court hearing, or whatever. Who interviews these people? Who collects the pictures to illustrate the story? Are there still journalists around who are permitted to approach witnesses to describe what has happened? Are all journalists only good for publishing appeals for missing persons? Or maybe publishing traffic information. Just asking. Below is a typical police press release. Why, when a story breaks, is the first (well, maybe second) thing police appeal for is for the privacy of those involved to be “respected”? In other words, don’t let the press anywhere near this. | Three further arrests made following Scottish Cup quarter final disorder in March | |
| Officers investigating disorder at the Scottish Cup quarter final between Rangers and Celtic on Sunday, 8 March, 2026, have made three further arrests.
Three men, aged 45, 30 and 20, have been arrested and charged in connection with assault and breach of the peace offences. They have been released on undertakings to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court at a later date. This brings the total number of arrests to 43. Lets be quite clear the Police are corrupt.
Events with regard to how they prosecute some bit utterly disregards others tells folks all they need to know. They and the COPFS are a gang. Of that there can be little doubt.
And that rottenness permeates down through the machine. Rotten police forces have existed before – the apartheid police service of South Africa being one but another no so long ago across the water. And now, they seek journalists, or is it spin doctors, to spin the tale. Our local council spend a considerable sum of doing just that. They ban certain journalists too.
And then there’s the silencing of elected representatives by the Standards Commission. Thankfully Lord Sandison only last week ruled on the SC and their backers in the Scottish Government’s illegality on that. Here is a press piece on the reality of what is going on –

Its on our doorstep and of course the Editor of this local journal is banned from attending to report on council business. The suppression of reporting is a serious thing for any so called democracy.
One small but important point. I am not banned from attending meetings. What I am banned from is speaking to WDC spin doctors to ask questions about important matters and clarifying things that have been said in council and committees. Local government in Scotland today is a bitter and twisted business. This is apparent from the item above and I can confirm it as someone who has reported on council affairs for more than 60 years. I was given the Scottish Weekly Newspaper of the Year Award three times by judging panels which included the late Lord Mackay of Clashfern, Lord McCluskey and the editors of both The Herald and The Scotsman, Arnold Kemp and Magnus Linklater. My ban has lasted six years or more and I have never been allowed a hearing nor was there any inquiry. I have found that chief officers and chief executives will brook no criticism of themselves or their organisation, which is anti democratic and completely unacceptable. It’s time the Scottish Parliament did something about it. The case of Sid Perrie btw is a Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Parks matter that I have written about a number of times. That is an utter disgrace which requires looking into immediately.
