Army veteran Tam Towie deserves to be honored at Holyrood Palace for the terrific work he has done keeping the Clyde foreshore at Havoc clean. The extent of Tam’s work is illustrated in the pictures on this page, which include one of him with First Minister John Swinney. Tam’s far too modest to have mentioned his voluntary work “roon the shore” to Mr Swinney, but the councillors of both the SNP and Labour who spend much of their time sitting on their hands and picking up the thousands of pounds they receive in wages and expenses for doing very little should really take a leaf out of Tam’s book and motivate themselves to do some good in this community which they are supposed to serve. Perhaps they should change the motto of West Dunbartonshire Council to “Dae it Yersel”. The council taxpayers would appreciate that.
