The incident took place at Parkhead during the fixture between Rangers and Celtic on Sunday, September 20.
Police Scotland confirmed the man, aged 39, will appear in court on Monday, September 21.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “One arrest made. 39-year-old man arrested for assault of medical staff and police assault. He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, 21 September, 2026.”
In other Old Firm drama, a bus caught fire near Celtic Park moments after the game, which saw Rangers beat Celtic 0-1, had finished.
Fire Brigade tenders raced to the blaze on Clyde Gateway outside the Emirates Arena in the east end of the city at 2.25 pm.
Emergency services rushed to the incident after receiving reports of a blaze on a bus. There were no reports of any injuries.
Dramatic footage shared on social media shows the bus engulfed in flames as football fans stood by. Flames were seen coming from the roof of the vehicle as fire crews worked to extinguish the blaze.
Thick, dark plumes of smoke rose into the sky as passersby looked on.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a call at 2:25 pm to a single-decker passenger coach well alight on Clyde Gateway outside the Emirates Arena in the east end of Glasgow today, September 20. Fire crews remain in attendance. There are no reports of any casualties.”
