MEMORIES OF THE OLD OUTDOOR SWIMMING POOL

Opened in 1929, the beloved Helensburgh open-air pool (seen here in this rare image) was gifted to the town by Provost Andrew Buchanan. For decades, it served as a bustling beachfront hub for swimming contests, high-diving, and sunbathing before finally closing its doors in 1977.

What is your fondest memory or story from spending time at the pool or the surrounding waterfront?
Did you or your children learn to swim in its famously chilly waters?
