The site of the original Hampden Park – widely considered to be the first international football ground – has been advertised for let.

The bowling green and clubhouse which now occupy much of the original pitch are described on the listing as an “exciting leisure opportunity”.

City Property Glasgow – Glasgow City Council’s arms-length property body who have advertised the site – say that “offers will be assessed on their individual merits including but not limited to community benefits, heritage consideration, deliverability and financial value”.

First Hampden – a group set up to preserve the site – say they are working on a proposal to bring the site into community ownership.
