A total of 1600 jobs were lost and it was never a cause for celebration for anyone employed at Strathleven Bonded Warehouses. However, Lomondgate has risen again like the Monarch of the Glen and it’s now a bustling housing complex, tourism and trading estate thanks to Lord McFall of Alcluith who persuaded Diageo to part with all the land on both sides of the A82 for just £1. The former MP looks upon it as his legacy to Dumbarton and the people who elected him into office.
