The night shelter team is struggling with the enormity of the impact on homeless people, Maasz said. Many were in tears when they were forced to ask people to leave for the streets because the Lodging House Mission (LMH) day centre which hosts the shelter overnight, is no longer running its services.
The first minister, Nicola Sturgeon, says again that the education secretary, John Swinney, will set out detail on school closures tomorrow. The three priorities will be:
supporting vulnerable pupils who rely on free school meals
how to address the issue of exams this year
how to put in place arrangements to support the children of key workers
Ms Sturgeon points out there will not be a one size fits all approach across Scotland.
She said: “This will benefit not only those in the immediate surrounding area but patients throughout the health board as it helps to deal with the pressure due to the pandemic.”
