Sons’ match ends goal-less

January 2, 2018

Dumbarton held Queen of the South to a 0-0 draw at Palmerston Park in Dumfries.

It leaves Queen of the South remain two points and two places outside the play-off positions.

The home side enjoyed much of the possession in the first half but struggled to break the Sons down.

Dumbarton included new signing Liam Dick in the starting XI for the first time following his move from Stranraer.

Sons were indebted to goalkeeper Scott Gallacher after the break, for keeping out a Chris Kane effort.

That came moments after Dumbarton’s Calum Gallagher came close to opening the scoring in the 56th minute, but his close-range effort was well saved by Alan Martin.

Queen’s goalkeeper was called into action again late on to keep the score level, saving Christian Nade’s header
