West Dunbartonshire Council’s proposals for a publicity campaign to promote the Vale of Leven Hospital has been warmly welcomed by the local MSP.  Jackie Baillie said: “I am pleased that West Dunbartonshire Council is finally taking action to implement the publicity campaign secured by Labour councillors in October last year. Increasing footfall at the Vale of Leven Hospital and raising awareness of the services it offers across a wider catchment area is vital to sustaining our local hospital and attracting more long-term investment from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. I welcome any action to encourage more people to use the Minor Injuries Unit but the proposed marketing activity could be more ambitious by seeking to promote all services at the Vale of Leven Hospital. This needs to involve close engagement with every GP in Clydebank to increase referrals to clinics at the Vale. In addition, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde should also deliver on its promise to extend the catchment area to include Bearsden and Milngavie as this would ensure the critical mass of patients the health board deems necessary for investment in hospital services.”
