End of an era as school bites the dust

The old Our Lady and St Patrick’s High School in Cardross Road, Dumbarton, has been razed to the ground. Demolition teams moved in six weeks ago and their work has changed the skyline in Dumbarton’s West End. The two bottom pictures here were taken by Bill Heaney at the start of the work and local photographer Tom Gardiner shot the top three pictures from the high flats at West Bridgend. Top left shows the school eradicated from the skyline looking over Oxhill towards the school where only the swimming pool building remains. Top right shows debris tumbling to the ground and centre right, anti clockwise is the school going, going, gone.
