The Rev Liz O’Ryan said farewell to the congregation of St Augustine’s Scottish Episcopal Church in Dumbarton on Sunday morning. Liz has been assistant minister there to the Rev Kenny Macaulay, who will be at the service. She has also been working hard in the Vale of Leven at St Mungo’s Church in Alexandria’s Main Street. Liz is pictured wearing her Dumbarton FC supporters’ scarf. Football is one of the very few things Liz and Kenny disagree about, whether Sons are better than Partick Thistle. The Rev Kenny, who is a mad keen Thistle fan, has announced that he will be retiring from the priesthood in a couple of months. Stop press news from Sunday’s service is this. He said: “We say farewell to the O’Ryan clan tomorrow as they head to a new and exciting ministry in Holy Trinity, Haddington. Liz will be greatly missed by all of us at St Mungo’s and St Augustine’s, but she goes with so much goodwill and gratitude for all she, and her family, gave. ‘Better lo’ed ye cannae be. Will ye no’ come back again!’. I have a sneaking suspicion she just might, now and again.” — Bill Heaney.
