Operation Masterwork is a Police Scotland investigation into the illegal distribution of ‘street valium’ and other controlled drugs, which has seen a significant increase in the number of drug related deaths in the West Dunbartonshire and Argyll and Bute areas.

As a direct result of this operation, seven people have been arrested after two houses were searched in Braes Avenue, Clydebank on Friday 6 September 2019.

At the first address in Braes Avenue, officers searched the property and recovered a quantity of drugs, believed to be Heroin and Diazepam with an estimated street value of £357,530.

Two women, aged 18 and 41 years and a 20 year-old man were arrested in connection with the recovery and are due before Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Monday 9 September 2019.

At the second address in Braes Avenue, officers searched the property and recovered a quantity of drugs, believed to be Cocaine, Heroin and Cannabis with an estimated street value of £7,030.

A 50 year-old woman and three men aged 19, 25 and 26 years have been arrested and charged in connection with this recovery and are due before Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Monday 9 September 2019.

Detective Inspector Andy Doherty of Clydebank Police Office said: “This significant seizure reinforces our commitment to disrupting those involved in the supply of controlled drugs and it ensures that these illegal drugs will not be distributed to our local communities.”

“Targeting drugs crime is our priority and information from the local community is absolutely vital in helping us target those involved in the supply of controlled drugs.  Anyone with information should contact officers through 101.  Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
