Local MSP, Jackie Baillie, has highlighted figures published today by the Statistics Division which show that the SNP Government failed to meet its own target of 95% of patients being seen, transferred or discharged within four hours of arrival at A&E.

These figures revealed that NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has not met the 95% target since July 2015. The figures also highlighted that across Scotland as a whole, the target has been missed consecutively for two full years.

Jackie Baillie said:  “It is an utter disgrace that this nationalist government have been letting down patients in my constituency for over 4 years by failing to meet the 95% A&E target. This is a prime example of the fact that it is all talk and no action when it comes to Nicola Sturgeon’s health policies and the First Minister should be ashamed of the extent to which our valued NHS is failing under the SNP’s watch.

“Locally, the Vale of Leven hospital does a sterling job in treating people but too many of us have to make the trip to the A&E in Paisley. The health board should ensure that much more is delivered at the Vale of Leven hospital where there is additional capacity.

“Heads should have rolled after the first year of missed targets. Four years of failings only goes to show that the SNP has chosen to put their effort into supporting nationalism, rather than our National Health Service. I know that A&E staff are doing everything that they can to meet the needs of their patients, but they can only do so much without the support of this government.”
