it took political pressure to get the company to agree to give employees who had tested positive for Covid-19 access to full pay while they were off sick with coronavirus.

Prof Sally Bloomfield, of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, warned against having a barbecue with guests, saying the virus could be present on bottles, cutlery and other objects. Picnics where people brought their own food were a better option, she said.

“I really do want everyone to enjoy these changes, because all of you have more than earned it. But I am asking you to please do so responsibly.”
