Police Scotland have confirmed that a 21-year-old man has been charged in connection with a serious sexual assault in Clydebank on a 23-year old woman in the early hours of Saturday, 1 August, in a lane off Alexander Street in the town. He is due to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court today (Tuesday, 4 August, 2020.)
The incident is alleged to have happened between 1.15 am and 1.45 am on Saturday, 1 August, in a lane off Alexander Street in the town, adjacent to a café. Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen something suspicious around the time of the incident.
Detective Inspector Scott Hamilton, of Clydebank Police Office, said: “Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened,. “We are eager to trace a couple who were seen in the area at the time. They were both dressed in black and the woman had blonde hair. “We believe they may have vital information that will help with our investigation.
“Anyone else who can help with our inquiries is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2496 of Sunday, 2 August, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
