NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde extends its thanks to the Armed Forces Veterans who are in the midst of manufacturing Inverclyde Royal Hospital’s new signage this Armistice Day.
This is in collaboration with Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Company, a new social enterprise that provides employment and development opportunities for Armed Forces and others with disabilities in Scotland. This is to help individuals adjust to life after service.
The new sign that will adorn the main entrance to Inverclyde Royal Hospital in the coming weeks and is being manufactured and installed by Scotland’s Bravest.
This is part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s investment in Inverclyde Royal Hospital.
Over the past five years, NHSGGC has invested approximately £13.3 million into the IRH campus including new medical equipment, money allocated to update fire control measures, CCTV, drainage works, heating controls and lighting.
A further £3.1million will be invested in the IRH during 2021/22 on hospital infrastructure, ward and theatre upgrades.
Melanie McColgan, Interim Director for Clyde, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said: “We are so pleased to have Scotland’s Bravest help us install the new sign for our hospital. We want to extend our thanks to the whole team who are putting the work in to help us improve Inverclyde Royal Hospital.
“This is part of our commitment to improve the infrastructure of Inverclyde Royal Hospital. The hospital plays an essential role in the delivery of care to the Inverclyde community and we are committed to its future.
Robert Lappin, Veteran Welfare and Development Manager, Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Company, said: “Here at Scotland’s Bravest, our mission is to enable veterans and others with disabilities to regain their independence through personal development including employment and training.
“Securing projects like this and others across the NHS Scotland estate helps us to realise that mission with more and more beneficiaries, all of whom travel from right across the Greater Glasgow & Clyde area to work with us, including a few from Inverclyde too.”
