CHARITY: Erskine is a cause close to my heart and I wanted to do my bit to fundraise for the charity

Submariner Tommy Clark has taken on the challenge of running his first marathon to raise money for our Veterans.  Tommy’s training is well underway in preparation to run 26.2miles on 25th March.

Tommy, from Glasgow, said: “As a serving member of the Royal Navy, Erskine is a cause close to my heart and I wanted to do my bit to fundraise for the charity because I feel that Veterans truly appreciate freedom in a way that most of us take for granted.

“They willingly took steps in their lives to ensure that we could live in freedom today. We could all learn a lot from Veterans and this is my way of giving back.”

Erskine Community Fundraiser Jim Watret also served with the Royal Navy for 34 years.

Jim said: “It’s great to see so many of our serving members of the Armed Forces like Tommy completing challenges to raise money for our Veterans.

“To think that we are still in their thoughts at this very difficult time cements the strong bond between the current service personnel and those who have gone before them.”
