Book now: Two weeks until Society of Editors ‘Future of News’ conference
Media coverage of the war in Ukraine and how traditional news media can engage younger audiences through social platforms are two of the key topics to be discussed at the Society of Editors ‘Future of News’ conference in a fortnight’s time.
Considered a major highlight of the industry calendar, the Society’s first in-person conference since 2019 will take place on Wednesday 11 May 2022 at Mary Ward House in London.
Alongside the challenges of covering the war in Ukraine and how UK news outlets are working around the clock to navigate disinformation, use new technologies and keep staff safe both on the frontline and at home, the conference will also look closely at how news outlets can tailor their content to attract new audiences on TikTok, the next steps for more representative newsrooms and the future models for making news pay.
Dawn Alford, Executive Director of the Society of Editors, pictured right, said: “Next month’s Future of News conference has an exceptional line-up of industry experts and it will provide an essential forum for journalists across the UK to discuss the challenges and opportunities for the UK news media.”
There are a small number of places available at the conference so those wishing to attend are encouraged to book now. A day-delegate is priced at £150+VAT for members and £160+VAT for non-members. To book please contact Angela Upton office@societyofeditors.org. A programme and list of speakers for the event can be found here.
