Three people rescued from Loch Lomond after boat capsizes

Alarm raised after a vessel overturns between Inchcailloch and Torrinch on Sunday

Three people were rescued from water after a boat capsized in Loch Lomond, lifeboat teams have said.

Loch Lomond Rescue Boat were contacted by Police Scotland on Sunday at 10.11am after three people not wearing life jackets got into difficulty in water in the area between Inchcailloch and Torrinch.

Rescue teams transported the casualties to Duncan Mill Slipway at Lomond Shores in Balloch, where they were handed over to the Scottish Ambulance Service for treatment.

Their medical conditions are currently unknown.

A spokesperson for Loch Lomond Rescue Boat said: “At 10.11am LLRB were paged by Police Scotland after receiving reports of a capsized boat and three persons in the water.

“LLRB transported the casualties to Duncan Mill Slipway where they were handed over to Scottish Ambulance Service to be treated.

“LLRB then made way back to scene to assist National Park Rangers with the recovery of the capsized boat. NPR towed the boat to Milarrochy. The boat was then righted and dragged onto the shoreline.

“Thankfully lives were saved today. LLRB stood down and returned to base.  Thank you to all emergency services today and others involved.”

Inchcailloch is close to Balmaha on Loch Lomond’s east shore.
