SONS HOLD ON TO NUMBER ONE SPOT

Gregg Wylde goal seals all three points

Bonnyrigg Rose played well from the outset and looked set to give Sons an uncomfortable day out at the Rock.

However, it was the Sons who took the lead with just 15 minutes played.

Rose wilted just for a moment and Sons took advantage of the lapse.

Kalvin Orsi picked out Gregg Wylde in the penalty box and the striker made no mistake with his shot which flew into the Rose net past a rooted Paddy Martin.

Both teams then had good chances to score as the game settled down into pretty even contest.

An awkward bounce on the less-than-perfect Rock surface deceived the Rose defence and gave Sons’ Ally Love a chance, but he missed his opportunity when he shot off target.

An error from Rose’s Martyniuk on the 60-minute mark let Orsi in to advance down the right flank and cut the ball back to David Wilson.

The Sons’ man failed to double his side’s lead however as his shot was cleared off the line.

With time running out for a Rose equaliser, Sons were pushed to hold on to their narrow lead.

Rose sub Connolly threatened and his mates tried their hearts out, but the league leaders held on to take all three points.
