Jackie Baillie is hosting a community meeting in Cardross to enable Network Rail to give an update on the problem with trains sounding horns at Bainfield Crossing.
People in the village have been troubled with horns sounding through the night to alert those in the vicinity of the station that trains are approaching.
The horn is used by drivers if they perceive a risk on approach to the level crossing.
The Dumbarton constituency MSP recently met with Network Rail to raise constituent concerns and the agency have confirmed that they will attend a meeting at Geilston Hall on Friday, October 13th at 6.30pm.
All local people are invited to go along to the meeting during which Network Rail officials will be able to explain the high-level technical background and limitations on the site but will also be willing and ready to hear suggestions from the local community.
The meeting will be the first step in finding a permanent solution for the area.
Jackie Baillie said: “The Bainfield Crossing is an important part of the local infrastructure, allowing members of the Cardross community to be able to access the village easily.
“The problem however with horns blasting throughout the night is incredibly disruptive.
“This issue has been a problem over a number of years and a solution must be found to the satisfaction of members of the community.
“I am pleased that representatives from Network Rail are willing to come to Cardross to discuss this directly with residents and to listen to their ideas in order to make this crossing work for everyone.
“I would urge as many people to come along and make their views known so their opinions can shape the long term solution.”
