SCOTTISH CUP: Dumbarton 1 Rangers 4

SPIRITED DISPLAY – BUT SONS OUT OF CUP

The visitors dominated the early proceedings with Harry Broun impressing in goal, though Sons had their chances as Michael Ruth was denied by Robby McCrorie at close range.

Goals from John Lundstram and Cyriel Dessers had Gers comfortable at the break and James Tavernier made the visitors spot in the next round safe after the interval.

Matty Shiels pulled one back for Dumbarton in the closing stages though Scott Wright restored the three goal margin moments later.

Sons travel to Elgin next weekend.

GALLAGHER LENNON JOINS THE SONS

The defender joins on a deal until the end of the season and will provide competition in the centre of defence.

Son of former Celtic boss Neil, Gallagher goes straight into the squad for Saturday’s Scottish Cup tie against Rangers.

Welcome to Dumbarton, Lennon!
