A Police Scotland safety event on the notorious A82/83 Loch Lomond and Loch Aweside roads received a mixed reception on social media today.Police Scotland announced: “We are in Inveraray today along with our partners from the Institute of Advanced Motorists, SFRS and Safer Camera Partnership, helping motorcyclists by passing on invaluable advice and techniques to become a safer, competent rider. So come along and say hi, we are here to help.”
Not everyone was happy, however.
David Coughtrie wrote: “Why are they called safety cameras? There would be less problems if you could actually enjoy riding your bike instead of watching for the extortion cameras that are supposed to be for safety.“
And Andy Widdows added: “David Coughtrie they’re nothing to do with safety, all about ‘fast track justice’ or as me and you would know it, theft of your money. People need to start treating police officers in exactly the same way as they would with any other thief, see how they like them apples.”
Strong stuff that for the police to have their hand of friendship bitten so savagely.
All-Roads Driving Academy softened the blow however with this comment: “Great to see so many people at this event today and to hear the really good advice being given by the police, safety camera partnership, fire service along with the free observations rides and assessment from the IAM. Really worthwhile event.”
