Adder female, Loch Lomond National Park.
Adders are Britain’s only venomous snake and are short and stocky, growing up to 70 cm long. They have red eyes with vertical pupils and don’t have eyelids. Adders are not aggressive and usually crawl away or freeze when disturbed.

When I saw the headline I was expecting it to be another West Dunbartonshire Council story!
I must say I was a little disappointed. Bill, please keep us updated!
Ah now, David, why would you ever think that? Did you have anyone in particular in mind?
Not sure if that came across correctly. It was a jibe at the council and praise for Bill with a request to keep us updated. I’m quickly becoming a huge fan! I was planning to be at the council meeting yesterday but missed it and I’ve never been so sorry for missing one. I have no faith left in the council and don’t think anyone else should either! Three jobs McAllister needs to step down. Johnathan McColl SNP needs to step down. Danny Lennon and June Mckay Labour, need to step down. That’s the real ‘snakes in the grass story’. Regardless of whichever party anyone supports, we should all be deeply concerned about the state of WDC.
