The Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow Accident and Emergency

Important update from the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow Accident and Emergency

During November, the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow typically sees a significant rise in emergency activity. This year, we are experiencing an increase in younger and sicker children attending our Accident and Emergency (A&E) due to a surge in respiratory illnesses. As a result, our A&E is much busier, and the time to treat patients is longer than usual.

We ask you to consider speaking to NHS 24 by calling 111 and your local pharmacy before attending A&E. Additionally, please use GP out-of-hours services and ambulatory units if appropriate. NHS 24 will advise if these are appropriate for you. If you do need to visit our A&E, we ask for your patience with our staff. Rest assured, we are committed to treating your child safely and as efficiently as possible.

Our dedication to providing effective, individualised, patient-centred care remains our top priority.
