DO YOU KNOW WHEN THE SUPERMAKETS ARE OPEN?

Morrisons Dumbarton and Helensburgh.

Here are when all the supermarkets will be open on Tuesday, December 31

Christmas and Boxing Day might be over for another year, but there is another holiday just on the horizon – New Year. 2025 is just two days away, with many out there planning parties to host or attend.

While it is an exciting time for a lot of us, there will still be many supermarket employees hard at work. Although supermarkets remain open on the build-up to Hogmanay, they do tend to operate at different opening hours, similar to the Christmas period.

Aldi

Similar to previous years, Aldi will be closing early on New Year’s Eve this week. Stores will operate at reduced hours from 8am to 6pm.

Lidl

The German budget chain will also be open at different hours than normal. Stores across Scotland are confirmed to be open from 8am to 7pm.

Asda’s opening hours do differ depending on the store size and location, although the vast majority are said to be open from 7am to 7pm.

Tesco

Similar to Asda, Tesco’s opening times will vary depending on the store you are visiting. The retailer has said that the majority of its Extra and Superstores are open from 9am to 6pm, with Express stores open from am to 7pm, with some closing at 6pm.

Morrisons

The majority of Morrisons supermarkets will be open from 9am to 6pm on December 31. It’s worth noting that these hours may differ for smaller Daily stores.

Waitrose

Waitrose stores will be open from 8am to 6pm on Tuesday. However, some that are based in Shell forecourts will be open for 24 hours.

Iceland

The frozen foods giant will also be open at reduced hours this New year’s Eve, with stores open from 7am to 6pm.

M&S

M&S stores will be open at various hours on New Year’s Eve depending on the store you are visiting.
