A PRIVATE Loch Lomond island “steeped in history” with a £900,000 price tag is now under offer.
In May last year, estate agents Savills listed Inchmoan Island for offers over £895,000. They had just sold nearby Inchlonaig to Desert Island Discs presented Kirsty Young and her husband as an island retreat.
The 113-acre, mile-long land is popular with campers and picnickers and well known for its 350 metres of sandy beaches.

Inchmoan also has a two-storey former stone hunting lodge cottage on the island’s western peninsula but is currently in a state of ruin.

The estate agents say it is arguably the best-known island on the loch, adding: “Trees and plant life on Inchmoan include Scots pine, pear, blueberry, birch, alder, bog myrtle, gorse and rhododendrons.his sale represents a very special opportunity to acquire a private island, steeped in history, within one of Europe’s most renowned and beautiful expanses of water.”
The name originates from Inchmoan’s use by the people of Luss as a peat fuel source for village fires.
There are no services connected to the island and it is not currently habitable, so a private boat will be needed to access the island.
