HELENSBURGH BANKING INFORMATION SESSION SET TO TAKE PLACE

Following the announcement by the Bank of Scotland of the closure of Helensburgh’s last bank branch, an information session for customers will take place in the town on 8th April.

Cash Access UK, funded by the major banks and set up by the last UK Labour government, is behind the operation to set up a Banking Hub in the town.

The move was deemed necessary following a survey by independent consultants’ Link Group, after Bank of Scotland announced it would shut its Helensburgh branch for the final time in March next year.

The Colquhoun Square branch is the last counter banking service left in the town, following the Royal Bank of Scotland’s unpopular decision to close their site last November.

Santander ended its retail operation in Helensburgh in 2019,  but a banking hub will be set up in the town to ensure customers have access to cash and counter services.

A site is yet to be earmarked for the facility, which will be in operation prior to the closure of the last remaining branch, however, an information drop-in session will take place on Friday, April 8th, between 10am and 3pm.

The session, which takes place at The Bridge, Helensburgh Parish Church, will allow residents to find out more about the services available via the Banking Hub.

Dumbarton constituency MSP Jackie Baillie, who opposed the branch closures, said: “I would urge residents to take the opportunity to drop in and see what Banking Hubs have to offer. They will bring a range of services to our local community, including access to counter services.”
