GRITTING? GRIT YOUR TEETH AND PAY YOUR COUNCIL TAX

At the anual Budget meeting, Labour councillors voted to scrap routine footway gritting across West Dunbartonshire – a vital service that helps keep residents safe during icy weather.
In a further blow to communities, Labour councillors at the Infrastructure, Regeneration and Economic Development Committee voted to increase the minimum distance for additional grit bins in residential areas by 50%, making it even harder for communities to support themselves and grit their bit.
These decisions will leave pavements treacherous in winter and put people at risk – particularly older people, families, and those with disabilities.
SNP councillors opposed both measures, raising serious concerns about the impact on public safety. Despite this, Labour pressed ahead with their cuts.
People in West Dunbartonshire deserve safe streets – not slashed services.
