Children’s Hospital Charity
“It felt amazing to celebrate this special birthday, and to give back to the charity I am so grateful for!”
To mark her 21st birthday, Megan, along with 16 of her friends and family, climbed Schiehallion to raise money for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.
In August of 2007, at just 3 years old, Megan was diagnosed with a Wilms tumour on her left kidney.
She spent countless hours in Yorkhill, undergoing chemotherapy for a total of 31 weeks, before receiving the incredible news in April 2008 that she was cancer free!
Megan and her family were incredibly appreciative of charity-funded visits and events. These kept appointments and check-ups light-hearted and have given Megan some positive memories to think back on from her time in hospital.
Back in 2008, her family climbed Schiehallion, and Megan was keen to prove that she was now fit and healthy enough to take on the challenge herself. To date, the family have raised over £12,000!
