DRYMEN SHOW: Spectacle of the best cattle, sheep, Highland ponies and Clydesdales

Drymen Show enjoyed welcoming everyone along to their 195th show on Saturday.
With a record number of livestock entries there was a real spectacle of the some of the best cattle, sheep, Highland ponies and Clydesdales from near and far than has previously been seen.
Despite a drizzly start it didn’t hamper the day and many who visited enjoyed a dry morning and early afternoon to wander around our various attractions, including numerous trade stands and craft stalls, walking stick classes and demonstrations, vintage tractors, cars and fire engines, and our SWI Tent (see pictures and results in separate section of this issue of The Democrat).
There the SWI had fabulous baking, flower arranging and craft work plus our Learning Zone where our local primary schools and nurseries displayed fantastic work alongside our egg classes and RHET (Royal Land Education Trust), who have an area which this year focussed on Dairy.
They were also able to then wander up to our Rabbit Tent before watching our Primary School 5 A Side Football competition and Dog Classes,  which this year ran alongside a fantastic demonstration from Lomond Flyball and Helensburgh Dog Agility.
For our thrill seekers, they enjoyed our Fun Fair and everyone was well fed and watered at our catering village and beer tent while enjoying great live music from our band stage.
The rain held off long enough for our main ring attraction Dark Horse Stunt Team to thrill us all with the Country and Western acrobatics on horseback.
However, the heavens opened at 3pm and unfortunately we had to cancel the rest of the afternoon’s entertainment. Not that anyone who headed for the tents and in particular the beer tent minded too much.
On behalf of the committee we’d like to thank everyone who supports, takes part and comes along to the show and we look forward to welcoming you all again on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
