DIY Dunbartonshire: ONE MAN WENT TO MOW …

Starmer’s Warmers. That’s the Labour administration on West Dunbartonshire Council. Pictured above is an illustration of the mess they have left this place in. Grass and weeds up to your waist in places, so bad that even if they were that way inclined, people could not find their dog’s scat to clean it up. Children on summer holidays from school are bitten by dangerous ticks. And the councillors, who will be on holiday for the next ten weeks, picking up salaries and expenses ranging between £25,000 and £50,000 a year. The Labour leader Martin Rooney and his son, William, pick up at least £75,000 between them plus extras for “promoted posts” such as convenerships and what have you. It’s a scandal. People used to do what little work these people do for nothing. They were volunteers who did it because they had some pride in their community, something sadly lacking in this curmedgeonly lot who will brook no criticism. Three wise monkeys haven’t a look in. Why they refuse to do is what the Labour government did. And that’s one U-turn after another – WASPI women, pensioners’ winter fuel allowance, welfare payments … you name it they’ve cut it. Without a squeak until the worms turned and finally gave in to public pressure. It wasn’t their conscience that bothered them. It was the selfish thought that they mightlose their well-paid jobs.

The £100,000 a year that Douglas McAllister and his MP colleagues (plus expenses) and perks he receives for being our Member of Parliament. He didn’t do a U-turn on the cruel cuts to welfare benefits. Or leaving old folk in an unheated house. Our formerly powder puff Provost voted with the sheep who now make up the rump of the parliamentry Labour Parliamentry Labour Park. The do-as-you-are-told-or-else lot who go through the doors of the voting lobbies to secure their place as prospective party candidates at the next election. It’s time West Dunbartonshire’s Labour administration stood up for us. By keeping the grass cutting and other budget cuts in place they have shown themselves up to be lily-livered scoundrels out for themselves and only themselves with a bit of nepotism thrown in. That man cutting the grass in Tullichewan in the pictures above most certainly won’t be voting Labour in the next election, whether that’s for a seat in Church Street or Holyrood or Westminster. There was significan praise for him on social media from folk who are scunnered to the back teeth with politics and politicians. The caption accompanying these pictures, from G & C All in 1 solutions, said this: ” What WDC won’t do, G&C All in 1 Solutions will. Huge grass cut today in Tullichewan that had only the outer edges done. The place looked terrible and we have had to open our blinds to this eyesore every morning. It’s not perfect but looks 100% better and Grant [the man on the mower] spent over 3 hours at it in his own time and for free and can safely say he’s exhausted trying to get though the waist high grass. He really does go above and beyond.” He certainly does, unlike the puffed up indolent bunch who “run” West Dunbartonshire Council when they couldn’t run a bath.

The Labour administration banned us from taking this picture but we took it anyway. It was at a meeting where they were making more cuts, the Balloch Library closure this time. Yet another decision which flew in the face of public opinion. They have also banned The Dumbarton Democrat  from asking questions about many important matters of public interest.
