Sons sack their manager after the match …
Dumbarton manager Stevie Farrell, pictured here by Jon Leino after the match, one of Scottish football’s longest serving managers has been guillotined by the French-Canadian owned club.
The surprising decision comes following a dip in the fortunes of the club which had been doing well off the park after being bought up by Mario Lapointe, a Canadian singer cum businessman.
But losing four goals two weeks in a row, yesterday’s in the Scottish Cup against Auchinleck Talbot brought about his soccer demise.
Farrell was one of the SPFL’s longest serving bosses having taken charge of the Sons in the summer of 2021.
But his job went the way of so many other managers following a bruising Scottish Cup defeat on Saturday.
Dumbarton were dumped out of the competition by non-league Auchinleck Talbot.
The West of Scotland League side from mining country in Ayrshire recorded a thumping 4-0 win.
Sons now sit seventh League Two but have recorded only one win in their last six league games.
They travel to face Edinburgh City in their next league game on Saturday.
Farrell took charge of 210 games and was Dumbarton’s second longest-serving post-war manager.
