  1. The chances of Flamingo Land appealing the decision to reject is slim to nil. Their proposal is dead and they know it.

That however is not to say that in a few years someone else comes along with a different plan and tries again. There will always be commercial Interests wanting to turn Loch Lomond into Las Vegas on the loch.

What however is the issue that Ross Greer is signalling on is that there are reports that secret commercial in confidence agreement with the government guarantees that compensation will be paid to Flamingo Land in the event that planning proposal does not go ahead.

Flamingo Land with reports of National Park, Scottish Enterprise collusion has been as near 13 year dog fight. What commercial fun park come developer would spend that amount of time and money were there not support and a big bag of gold at the end of the slog.

The problem of course is that the commercial agreement with Flamingo Land is a commercial in confidence public one. Additionally, collusion and concentrations of interest is something that does not feature on the public noticeboard. But folks need to know what is going on. The public have a right to know about secret commercial in confidence deals.

And that I think that is what Ross Greer pitches at when he calls for the ending of the largely secret deal.

But one last thought. How much has all of this 13 year slog cost not just Flamingo Land and the public purse through all of the appeal and public enquiries. Big bucks, maybe ten million, maybe twenty million and who is paying for it.

The public in these cash strapped times need answers.
