Dumbarton Football Club is delighted to announce that manager Frank McKeown has signed a two-year extension to his deal at the Marbill Coaches Stadium.
He is joined in committing his future to the club by assistants Stephen Simmons and Mark Docherty, goalkeeping coach Eric Phillips, physiotherapist Kirsty Hughes, and sports scientist Callum Strang. Dumbarton FC Executive Director Cameron Watson and Frank McKeown
Frank took over in December 2025, guiding the club to William Hill League 2 safety – and winning the Glen’s Manager of the Month award for March 2026.
During his time in charge, he has also led us to our longest unbeaten run in league fixtures for 14 years.
Speaking after signing his extended contract, Frank said: “I want to thank everyone who has played their part this season. I want to continue to drive forward the culture, standards, and performance of the club, and we have seen some real positive signs of that as we head towards the end of the season.
“I want to make Dumbarton a place where players and supporters enjoy their football, with a proud link to the community. The board and I are dedicated to improving on and off the pitch, at a sustainable pace, while meeting the challenges we face on a daily basis. With the support of everyone around us, I am excited for what the future holds for Dumbarton Football Club.”
Dumbarton FC Executive Director Cameron Watson said: “Frank outlined an extremely clear vision when he was appointed, and was very honest with us that it would take time to turn things around.
“We knew that we would have to be patient during that process as he reshaped the side, however we’re now seeing Frank McKeown’s Dumbarton team.
“In recent months, we have developed a long-term strategic plan for the coming years, and Frank’s vision of where the club should be aligns with that of the board.
“We’re delighted that he has agreed an extended deal and look forward to seeing what he and his team can achieve across a full season.”
