Rentonians who went to fight fascism in the Spanish Civil War …

Peter Robinson is in Renton, West Dunbartonshire.

Inspired by the Clydesiders’ “Our Stories Heritage Festival,” I took a walk through Renton to explore some of the things I’ve just driven past hundreds of times, including:
The Bull commemorates the Rentonians who went to fight fascism in the Spanish Civil War
The Cenotaph remembers the dead from two World Wars
The Tobias Smollett Monument
And of course, the historic football club.
Kenny Mackenzie —  Interesting thing that used to be in The Renton, a full-sized replica of the European Cup, I think it was, because John O’Hare of Nottingham Forest , pictured left, came from The Renton. Sure, it was in a cafe/ community centre, might still be?
