It always brings a smile to my face.
I grew up in the 60’s & early 70’s in Clydebank. When garden detritus or stuff no longer required had to go, it was loaded into the car and taken to the dump, coup, midden or tip.
No more the basic names. The 21st century version is now referred to as a “Civic Amenity Site,” and they are very efficiently run. On arrival at the Blackhill one on the outskirts of Helensburgh, you are treated to a fabulous artistic display showcasing stuff which people have deemed unwanted or surplus to requirement. And to think that if Tracey Emin created it, it would be worth £millions
