Large crowds travel to Tiree for annual music festival

Sunny skies greeted more than 2,000 revellers in the Hebrides, with headline slots from acts including Peat and Diesel, Skippinish, Tide Lines and Skerryvore.
Organisers said attendees “tripled” the island’s population across the weekend, ahead of the closing night on Sunday.
Hundreds also took part in other activities, including surfing, swimming and beach yoga as part of the wider festival programme.

A report earlier this year estimated the festival was worth about £1.6m to the island’s economy in 2025.
The economic impact assessment by MKA Economics also showed a total contribution of £11m since 2010.
Tiree’s usual population is about 650.

The festival’s founder and artistic director, Daniel Gillespie, said: “To celebrate our 15th edition surrounded by old friends, stunning views and the best Scottish music has been such a joy.
“Once again Tiree delivered, helping make this one of the best festivals yet.
“The positive impact on the island, the community spirit, and shared love of Scottish culture is why we do this, and it was fantastic to see it on full display this weekend.”
