Jim McAloon, the Council’s Strategic Lead for Regeneration, said: “We have worked hard to market these varied sites and are pleased that developers see so much potential in buying in West Dumbartonshire. Each of these sites will be put to good use in our community, be that by the addition of new homes or through use for community activities. We will now move to finalise these sales.”

LOMONDGATE STAG LIT UP AGAIN FOR CHRISTMAS

The stag was a legacy, a parting glass so to speak, from drinks giant Diageo when they pulled out of Dumbarton to go to Fife. A total of 1600 jobs were lost and it was never a cause for celebration for anyone employed at Strathleven Bonded Warehouses. However, Lomondgate has risen again like the Monarch of the Glen and it’s now a bustling housing complex, tourism and trading estate thanks to Lord McFall of Alcluith who persuaded Diageo to part with all the land on both sides of the A82 for just £1. The former MP looks upon it as his legacy to Dumbarton and the people who elected him into office.
