HUGE TURNOUT FOR INDEPENDENCE
Better late than never. My, my; it fair wiz a richt shooder-tae-shooder affair in Freedom Square this afternoon, and no’ just in the metaphorical sense either! There were reckoned to be around 20,000. A real cross-party presence too, with, as well as a huge SNP support, flags and banners for the Greens and the Scottish Socialist Party. Even the English Scots for Scottish Independence were there. I’ve never seen the Square so crowded. Great speeches by Mhairi Black, Patrick Harvie, Humza Yousaf and Nicola Sturgeon.
GENERAL ELECTION
Scottish Labour has launched its election campaign by pledging to fund the building of 120,000 council and social houses over the next 10 years.
The party, whose candidate in West Dunbartonshire is Jean Anne Mitchell, says the build up to the general election on 12 December has now formally begun.
Richard Leonard opened Labour’s campaign with a new policy designed to end homelessness “once and for all”.

CHRISTOPHER SMALL OF THE GLASGOW HERALD
OBITUARY. Christopher Small. From the Scottish Review – Christopher Small’s name has recurred in SR, lauded by our founder – Kenneth Roy – who, as a boy journalist on the then Glasgow Herald, knew him as a mentor. Each justly regarded the other as a paragon of utter integrity.
