“I thoroughly enjoy my role at Dumbarton Castle and am passionate about Scottish tourism so to be recognised by my peers is very pleasing.
“I’m extremely grateful for all of the support I receive from my colleagues at Historic Environment Scotland.”
The Scottish Thistle Awards, which is now in its 27th year, helps shine a spotlight on individuals and businesses that go above and beyond to create a visitor experience worth talking about amongst the county’s valuable tourism industry.
It is led by Scotland’s national tourism organisation, VisitScotland, and supported by a panel of industry representatives across the country.
The 2019 award saw almost 600 entries submitted, which included more than 1,000 nominations from members of the public who were keen to give hotels, restaurants, B&B’s, visitor attractions and individuals the opportunity for recognition.
Spending by tourists in Scotland contributes around £6 billion to Scottish GDP, around 5% of its total number.
