Weather warnings have been issued across the north and south of Ireland as storm Ciara approaches.
Saturday started dry, bright and windy for most of us. However, it’s set to change with a yellow weather warning in place as storm Ciara moves in, bringing strong winds and heavy rain by Saturday evening.
Gusts of 50-60mph are expected quite widely across inland areas, with even stronger gusts of 80mph or higher along coastal areas.
Overnight, we can expect heavy rain with gusty southwesterly winds easing for a time.
Looking at Sunday the winds will pick up again, it will be extremely windy and wet as as the storm tracks to the northwest of Ireland bringing a significant risk of coastal flooding.
Damaging gusts are likely to continue throughout the day, with the risk of thundery showers too.
Drivers are being warned to take extra care on the roads due to the potential of difficult conditions caused by heavy rain, particularly on coastal or exposed routes.
